Heather Baxter

Heather Baxter joined Portland Ballet as a company member in 2019. While at Portland Ballet her performances have included Olivia in A Victorian Nutcracker, Young Girl in Jennifer Jones’ Surprised by Joy, Olivietta in A Harlequinade, Peasant Pas de Trois in Giselle, and Huntress in Sylvia. Prior to her time in Portland, Heather spent two years with Roanoke Ballet Theater in Virginia, under the direction of Sandra Meythaler. While there she performed in Dracula, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Giselle, and The Nutcracker. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Point Park University with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance with a concentration in Ballet and a minor in Entrepreneurship.  Her early education began under the guidance of Elizabeth Hansen and continued through the pre-professional program at Portland School of Ballet. While at PSB her teachers included Sabir Yapparov, Joseph Morrissey, Roberto Forleo, and Nell Shipman. During her summers as a student she had the opportunity to train at nationally renowned summer intensives including The Washington Ballet, Oklahoma City Ballet, Walnut Hill School for the Arts, and Bates Dance Festival. In 2016 she had the chance to spend three weeks training in Italy with Dance Italia where she studied Gaga technique, Flying Low, and Counter Technique.
